JUDY & SHELLY BIEBER
Judy and Shelly Bieber have been potters for over 35 years. Their work is reduction fired in a gas kiln to 2300 degrees. It is lead-free, microwave oven and dishwasher safe. Shelly hand builds with slabs of clay constructing trays, vases and teapots. He creates his own moulds and forms for creating the pieces; he also designs his stamps for imprinting.
Judy throws her forms on a wheel and works in porcelain and stoneware. They create their own lead-free glazes seeking interesting texture and subtle colors to enrich their forms.
During the last three years they have traveled to Japan and China to study ancient and contemporary pottery. They studied ancient Asian glazes and they try to incorporate the rich and beautiful colors and textures of Chinese and Japanese pottery in their own creations.
They have exhibited in craft shows throughout the Northeast.
